Are weddings overrated?

Are weddings overrated? A wedding can feel overrated when it turns into a costly performance for everyone else, but celebrating a marriage with people you love can still be genuinely meaningful. The problem is usually the pressure to include every tradition, impress guests, or match celebrations seen online. Start by deciding what you actually want to remember: the ceremony, a good meal, time with family, dancing, or simply getting married without a big production. Then put your money and energy into those priorities and let the rest be optional. A courthouse ceremony, intimate dinner, backyard wedding, or larger reception can all be valid choices. If planning is leaving you anxious or pushing you toward debt you cannot comfortably manage, making the celebration smaller is worth considering.
